3 Peaks, 1 Team, Total Success!
The JB Associates team has officially conquered the 3 Peaks Challenge! This weekend, we tackled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon. We began our journey with Ben Nevis, the tallest of the three mountains. Starting at 5am with head torches, we reached the summit at sunrise. Not only were the views incredible, but we also beat our target time of 5 hours by 11 minutes! Every member of the team made it to the top of the largest mountain in the UK—an impressive feat.
After conquering Ben Nevis, we journeyed across the country to Scafell Pike. Although the busier roads caused a slight delay, we pressed on with determination. Climbing during sunset provided us with breathtaking views. Originally, we had 4 hours planned for this peak; however, we knew we had to push harder to stay on target. Unfortunately, ongoing injuries forced a couple of team members to stay back, and we made the tactical decision for them to meet us at the bottom. With 5 of us remaining, we scaled the steep summit in 3 hours and 8 minutes, smashing our goal and getting back on track for the 24-hour challenge.
Meanwhile, tactical decisions via walkie talkie between the cars ensured we would tackle Snowdon before the clock ran out. We arrived just after 1am and set off immediately, with a 4-man team. At this point, we had 3 hours and 51 minutes to ascend and descend, so we pushed through the night. Our captain, David Morris, led from the front, navigating despite low visibility, wind, and rain. David later said Snowdon was his favourite part—facing the elements in the dark, watching the team dig deep, and feeling immense pride in pulling them through.
In the end, we completed Snowdon in 3 hours and 30 minutes, which meant we finished the overall challenge in 23 hours and 39 minutes. WE DID IT! We are incredibly proud of our team. Everyone contributed unique strengths, which, in the end, helped us complete this challenge. David expressed his privilege in captaining the team, keeping them motivated and focused.
Every member earned their medal, with each playing a vital role in the successful execution of this challenge.
While we enjoyed the challenge, it was completed for two very worthy causes: Cancer Research UK and the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Thanks to the incredible support we received, including the kindness of strangers along the way, we have raised an outstanding £3,075—over double our original goal of £1,500! This is a huge accomplishment that we’re incredibly proud of—but we’re not stopping there.
