This October, JB Associates is entering and sponsoring an 8-man crew in the Pink Elephant Regatta. The event is to raise money for sailing charity, the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
The regatta was originally planned for July but postponed due to COVID-19 measurements. It is recognised within the IT sector as a way to say thank you to the industry as well as to meet and network with other experienced professionals. Most importantly, it raises some money for an important cause each year.
The races will be followed by a BBQ on the Isle Of Wight, before a relaxing afternoon sailing past Hurst Castle and the Needles. Finally, participants will enjoy an evening meal at The Haven Bistro back in Lymington. The JB Associates team are looking forward to welcoming a few clients to join them on board.
Pink Elephant started in the early 1990s, supported mainly by the foreign exchange and the money market traders. It grew from there, with annual events at the Mithras wine bar and fundraising allowing them to donate around £15,000-£20,000 each year to various charities. Since Peter Beckett joined the IT market in the late 1990s, the industry has given fantastic support. It is now recognised as the IT industries charity event and continues to support children’s charities each year.
This year will be the third Regatta event for Pink Elephant. They have again chosen to support the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. This charity is one that aims to rebuild the confidence of young people through 4-day sailing trips. They understand that, for many young people, life is not the same after cancer. Therefore, their work begins when treatment ends.
JB Associates are thrilled to be part of this exciting event. We have previously sponsored a number of sporting events, including a golf tournament and local football teams. However, this will be our very first regatta and we are looking forward to getting out on the water.
